About

Who We Are

Alsen is a small rural community in East Baton Rouge Parish surrounded by over 30 chemical producing hazardous waste facilities.

Inspired by social movements of the past, residents came together to form the Alsen St. Irma Lee Community Village organization. Long time residents decided to organize and make an impact. Pretty quickly, this singular moment evolved into a full-fledged movement.

Our Environmental Movement challenges the Air, water, and land quality that the Alsen St Irma Lee residents have to endure. We are advocating to hold our leaders accountable and fighting for solutions that will provide cleaner green energy practices in communities disproportionately burden with hazardous chemical facilities.

Outreach

No One Should be Silenced

As a large movement of activists, Outreach is close to our hearts. We believe that the best solutions for society come from within, and make it our mission to build awareness so that disadvantaged communities have  access to equitable clean energy solutions.

Partnership

Everyone Counts

Alsen St. Irma Lee Community Village has built an environment of support and helpful resources to make sure that Partnership is always a priority. Our success is driven by the hearts, minds, and souls of our community. Come and join us.

Advocacy is an essential pillar of our Environmental Movement. There is strength in numbers, and we work to inform and encourage others to take a stand for what they believe in. Want to learn more?
